How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes an average reading speed of 225 words per minute. Speaking time assumes about 130 words per minute for a natural speaking pace.
Does the word counter support languages other than English?
Yes. Word and character counting uses Unicode-aware pattern matching, so it works reasonably well with accented characters and many non-Latin scripts.
What counts as a "word"?
Any sequence of letters, numbers, apostrophes, or hyphens is counted as one word. Standalone punctuation is not counted.
